Hello everone, I have a question about viewing posted pictures. Not be a big computer person, why is it that I can't seem to get some thumbs in the threads to open? Screen just gets busy like it is lodeing but never gives me the enlarged picture. I am using a vista system (which I dislike). Am I doing something wrong? saw dust

You're probably not doing anything wrong, and it's not Vista either. The problem is the new viewing system they switched to. This kind of a viewing system seems to require an active connection that doesn't tolerate errors very well. Errors are an inherent part of Internet data transmission, so not tolerating and recovering from them is a problem. I've seen a number of other sites that have switched to this kind of viewer, and they all suffer from this same problem. I've experienced this on Windows (Vista and Windows 7), Linux, and Mac systems. Changing things doesn't always equal progress. By the way, if you hate Vista, you'll really love Windows 7. It's a huge improvement across the board. |

I agree the new picture viewer is poor, slow and unfriendly. Anytime it seems to be taking too long to open a picture, simply close it out and try again. Keep doing this until the picture loads. Don't wait. If it doesn't start to load withing a second or two it probably will take forever to load. Just close out and try again. This method improves surfing time while browsing through the Internet too. Rather than waiting for a problem to resolve it is usually better to close out and try again.

I agree I just double click and have it open in a new window the viewer was unfortunately not an improvement.

I have no problems with the viewer and like the way I can easily scroll through the pictures like a slide show.

I too like the viewer, and the way you can scroll through the pictures, but I have to agree that sometimes it just sits there and takes too long to load. I usually click myself out of there, and come back to it later with some success and sometimes not. So you are not alone saw dust.

saw dust, just right click on the picture then click open link, it will come up the old way. I have had Vista for a couple years now and just got used to it. I have heard that the new Windows 7 is much better.
