Default scroll saw foot pedal

Hello scrollers,
Just wanted to share these photos of my foot pedal.
I was scrolling along and all of a sudden flash, pow, puff, the noise scared the craposis out of me. Took me a while to find out where the problem came from, but here it is. Seems that the blue wire was touching the piece of metal, and it must get hot enough to melt the wire casing. Might want to check yours.

WD, How old is it? I ask because my pedal is 18 years old, and I've never had a problem.

Is that a simple on\off switch or a variable speed?

Seems a variable speed could generate some heat through the resistors, but I can't see a on\off switch generating that much heat.

Love the technical term...LOL

I'll bet it was almost shocking...HUH?

Glad it happened while you were there and no fire ensued...Sheesh. Thanks for the heads up.

Default Foot Pedal

Hi, WD Is the foot pedal the standard pedal that came with your saw or was it an add on? Just curious.
