G'day Jerry, Stickies are threads that are stuck at the top of the boards. These are things that the Mods think are important, of interest or answer frequent queries.

Hi, Jerry. With message boards, when a thread is not posted in for a while, it starts to "fall" downward toward the bottom of the board (in that particular forum) while threads which are being posted in gradually gain ground on the top. In other words, whenever a thread is posted in (by you or someone else), it gets bumped to the "top" of the board, knocking whatever thread which used to be there one position lower. If a thread is not gaining many posts anymore, it will gradually fall, therefore, toward the bottom. By "stickying" a thread, it remains at the top of the Forum's page regardless of any new posts being placed. If a mod feels that something might be a frequently used reference or holds another reason where it would be preferable to have it easily accessible, he or she will "sticky" it to the top of the Forum. As you click on each Forum, you will find these, usually. For example, you just posted in the "Info Exchange" Forum. If you look at the very top of the Forum's page, you will see a "sticky" about an owl project. If you look in the "Publisher's Feedback" Forum, you will see a "sticky" of a "Scrolling Around the World" thread some dufus started which has had overwhelmingly explosive popularity and almost too many submission for the Board's database to handle. ![]() Hope that helps! |
