Default My Monster

G'day all,
Was knocking up some trains, trucks and VW's for name trains today and got a bit sick of the dust my little sander was making so whacked together this gadget.
I just cut two disks from some 35mm pine, glued the face, pressed them together and held them both by bashing a 1/4" dowel through the centre hole.

Found a length of old Vacuum cleaner hose that was near enough the right diameter for dust outlets on the sander. (I never chuck anything)

Drilled two holes in the end of the sandwiched disks the same size as the hose.

Put some duct tape around both ends of the hoses so they where a nice tight push fit, and some around the Pine disks so they would fit nice and tight in my dust extraction hose.

And I'll be buggered .............. it worked.

Good evening John.

That's a great idea. Not only for your sander, but for any shop tool with those small dust ports. I've saved a copy of your post, so I can use it when I get a dust collector. (On the top of my shop wish list.)

Thanks!!

Geeeeezzzzzzz JohnB if we didn't know you better we would think you were a violent man by reading your vernacular. "Knocking up, whacked, bashing, push fit"

I do agree with the rest though, you sure do have some great ideas roaming around in that head of yours.
Thanks for the pics. Sweeeeet!
