Default Tip and Jig #1

G'day all,
I was drilling some 3/8 holes in wheel centres the other day and decided to knock up a new jig.
I've had one I made about 4 years ago and it was looking a bit tatty, while doing it I thought some on here may find it off use.

I use a hole saws with 1/4" centres to rough cut wheels at various sizes. I then spin them onto a face plate I made up for the lathe which has a 1/4" centre and then paint them on my wheel painting machine which requires the holes to be 1/4".

After the wheels are finished, some of my toys require a 3/8 axle so this is what I came up with to allow me to re-drill the holes.

A piece of 16mm melamine board and I glued a piece of non-slip drawer liner on both sides. Pic 1 shows the back.
Then drilled a 3/8" hole part way through the face Pic 2
Place the timber on the Drill press table and line up the hole with the bit.Pic 3
Place the wheel on the jig and line up the hole with the bit Pic 4
Drill away Pic 5
And presto, no slipping of the wheel and no needs for clamps etc that may damage the paint job.
