Default Compound Cutting Videos

Folks,

I made a couple of videos and have uploaded them to YouTube. Please take a look and give me some critical feedback. (other than lighting and getting my hand out of the way). I appreciate any feedback you may have. I can't get any better if you don't tell me where I screw up. <grin>

Thanks everyone.

Jim,

You did a fine job on the pieces and inspired by to try some compound cutting again. I wasn't very good the first time I tried and haven't gone back to trying again.

As for the audio, I noticed a clock ticking in the background and early in the first video it sounded like a pump or vacuum was running a bit. But overall I found it very easy to see what was happening and hope you post some more videos.

Thanks.

I did not watch the whole video set, but what I did watch seemed fine. I do tend to try to leave the previous cuts in place when I go to the other profile though, but either way works as long as you know to expect the less resistance when the time comes.
I would guess though that you were cutting some fairly soft wood.I cut a couple compound ornaments tonight of 1 1/2 inch oak, and I know I wasnt moving that fast. I will try to watch the rest of the videos tomorrow night, but from what I saw, seemed fine to me.

Rick, that's the king of input I was looking for. I'll try it again this weekend and see if I can do better. I'll also see what I can do about an external mic.

Jim, I watched the first video and I'm most impressed with your jig. Did you make it? I can see where my compound cutting would definitely improve if I had one of those. I don't do a lot of compound cutting but I do on occasion and a jig like the one you have would help me out a lot. I'll watch the other videos tonight. Thanks for the info and if you have plans for that jig I'd love to have them. David

Default Great Video

Thank you Jim for the video. It made me want to try compound cuts now. However the first thing I am going to do is make that jig that you were so kind to share the plans to. Thanks again. Kraig

Thanks Jim for the videos. I have your plans but for one reason or another have been hesitant about starting the cutting. Your videos have helped clarify in my mind how to proceed. I also like your "jig" and plan on making it first. I especially like how you made a slot for the scroll saw to start.
