Default Blade Storage Tray

I've run into a design similar to this at some point, but here is my implementation of that idea. I started with 8/4 maple left over from building my workbench and turned it out on the lathe. A lazy-susan bearing on the bottom lets it spin.

There is room for 16 blade tubes, which are made from PVC and designed to let you access the blades easily. The whole thing is grossly over-engineered, but that is pretty much my style.

Apologies to the purists; I used several power and hand tools building this, but none of them were scroll saws...I suppose I could have done a compound cut on the handle. Then again, I'm a total scroll saw newbie...

Neat, sweet and petite. You have turned the utilitarian into artful.

Thanks for the comments; I do my woodworking in a vacuum so I appreciate the feedback.

Desperation is the mother of invention. Originally the cap/coupler was going to be the top, then I realized scroll saw blades catch on every tiny imperfection. I ended up turning the whole thing on its head, now the "cap" is a smooth piece of 3/4" PVC.

the GOAL was to have a tube that splits in the middle so I can get at the blades without having to take them all out. I just got there by a more circular route.

There are things I'd do different if I ever made another, but that has been the story of my life; no reason to expect this to be an exception.
