Default Getting across the border.

I want to start going to dog shows in the US. Going threw customs last time they asked if my woodwork was going to be sold in the US. And so my question is how do I get stuff over legally. I was at a show in Seattle last weekend and talked to quite a few vendors, most of them were local. They said I needed a bussiness licence and insurance.
I have spent the last few days reading threw page after page of goverment stuff and no smarter. Has anyone gone down this road and if so can you let me know how to do it?

Any help would be welcome, thanks Alan.

I thunk of dat one, but they take a dim view of that and can take the vehicle used to try and smuggle things across. I have brought back tools and wood before but to do it on a regular basis I would like to do it legally.
I did not bring back much in the way of tools this trip. I drove from Idaho to Seattle and then hit traffic jams. took 2 hours to go north 30 miles. Got to Grizzlie tools at 5:03 on last friday/ they close at 5. Heather had to be back to work on monday so I had to pass this trip. The air was foul from 5:03 till about 5:30 last friday in that parking lot.

Alan.
