| Toys for girls?? Like most scroll saw clubs do, ours is making toys to donate around the holiday season. We are making cars, trucks, animals, and maybe rocking horses. For the girls we have a couple of ideas like doll cradles or rocking chairs, but they take longer to make then simple cars and trucks. Does anybody have any other ideas of toys for girls that are failry simple to make, don't use too much material, and don't take too long?

| G'day Jim,
I've got a couple of things I make.
The little Doll pushers are simple and cheap to knock up,
If you'd like a plan for those I have one I just drew up for another member.
I'll take some photos of some other ideas, you may be able to use. |

| This is like "don't give dolls to boys". If you give girls hand made toys they might grow up and become Wood Workers. The odd one might even become an Artist!

| My youngest daughter and my niece both love the Dinosaur puzzles from the Petersen's book. The other thing I've done for my wife's girl scout troop is given them unfinished pieces for them to paint (all kids love any kind of crafts if you take the time to show them). An unfinished piece and a picture of what it could look like finished would get them off to the races.

| Our club makes about 100 doll beds. I don't have the plans handy but they are well liked. A mattress firm donates some thin foam for the mattress and a local quilters group makes small quilts for them.
Also, we do holders for coloring books and colors. Right now some of the office supply places have colors for 5 cents. Some make small boxes with swivel tops. Drill a large hole with a forstner, glue on the bottom and cut to shape. Some of the more adventurous make ironing boards, etc. but they are more labor intensive.
Also, you'd be surprised but our organizations say a lot of girls like the cars as well.

Alan. | I'm not saying anything.
I'm just going to wait until Marsha reads this. I've got my steel helmet and dug a foxhole, so I'm prepared...

| Here is a couple of pictures showing the beds. We make the bed size to be 8 1/2 by 15.
