| Scroll Saw Bling for your truck or car. This is an easy way to show of your dog breed or anything else I quess.
I start with a basic shape, in my case Great Danes. Draw it out and glue the pattern to a piece of aluminum 1/8" or a bit less. Use a metal blade and cut it out on your scrollsaw. Emery cloth will sand off the sharp edges. For badges that go on a grill just epoxy a bolt with a flat head to fit a countersunk hole, onto the back of the piece. The bolt will go through your grille and depending on the size of gaps or holes use a large washer and tighten it up. You might find it easier to use 2 bolts and a small plate.
The bling part comes from chrome decal material. Sign shops sell all kinds of decal material, the chrome is not that expencive.
The other thing I have done is make mudflaps. I drive a dually and cut a sheet of aluminum to fit on the lower 2/3s of each flap. In the centre I cut out a Greatdane, and then put the chrome decal material on the plate and with a sharp knife cut out around the dane hole. The whole thing is then pop rivited onto the rubber mudflap.
My wife has 4 danes on her truck grille and like my mud flaps are now 4 years old and the chrome decal is still there.
The range of things you could cut is huge. I am tempted to do a middle finger for my mud flaps but as we use my truck when we go out with the RCMP it might not go over to well. lol.
Cutting metal this thin is fairlly easy. BUT you must hold down the metal as it will try to jump up and down much more than wood.

| G'day Alan,
What a great idea.
I could bolts all types on my old ute, but the missus wouldn't let me touch the Falcon.
You are a man after my own heart, thinking outside the box.
Like Dad says, "somebody had to make it, so there's no reason you can't". |

| I'll keep an eye out when I'm driving around ..Big red truck , Great Danes on mud flaps . Shouldn't be hard to spot . I did the same thing to my 250 Rebel . I made a plaque for the sissy bar .Etched two Dogwoods on the back half . Two wild roses on front . The air filter cover was missing so I made one and etched a Steller Jay on a branch . My son painted them . Never thought to scroll saw something .

| That is cool I made a couple of flames for a friends motor cycle R-109 sweet ride. I found that if you tape the metal to an 1/8" piece of backer like if you were stack cutting it makes it easier to hold and doesn't seem to jump as much.Jerry

| Nice idea. It won't work so well on my car, but I might be able to sneak something onto my wife's SUV. Hmm.
Has anybody tried cutting magnetic backing material with a scroll-saw? I'd love to make more temporary adornments.
I have a set of magnetic flames so I can recognize my rental cars, but they're wearing out an something more customized would be fun.
