|  Looking for a ratio I'm making a cross for my ddaughter's wedding. It needs to be 16 to 18 inches tall. What I'm looking for is the ratio of height to width in addition to the placement of the horizontal piece in relation to the vertical piece. I hope that I have explained this well enough for someone to be able to help me. Thanks in advance, Dave |

|  I think normally the the proportion of the lengths and placement of the pieces is based on the divine proportion (1.618) although it really does not matter. In other words the height of the cross is 1.618 times the arm length. With regards to the placement of the arm, the distance from the bottom is 1.618 time the distance from the top. That's about as far as my math skills go. I am sure someone would be able to produce a formula.

 | Most people have a cross somewhere in their house, be it a crucifix, a bible, or just a simple cross on a chain. Naturally a small cross on a chain is going to be a bit harder to work with, but just about any other cross you may have could be used to determine a simple ratio to start with. You could also try to download a simple pattern from one of the free MSN sites to use as a template. Other than that I have no idea.

| Dave, do you have a pattern?? if so, you can just go to stapels. and size it to what you wont. once you have one size, you can make it lardger. or smaller. whitch ever. then make your wood to match what you wont. does this help. your friend Evie ps. the copeys are only 18 cents. |
