| help with PDF files The scroll saw patterns you can order on the web all come in PDF format. What program do you use to print them where multiple sheets are needed. The ADOBE program is very restrictive as far as cost. Any ideas?

| If my picture is larger than 8.5 x 14" (legal paper) then you can't resize a PDF file either larger or smaller. I have the free version. Sometimes you need to be able to tile printouts so you can make a larger pattern.

| Hmmm ... good question. I send a lot of files as pdf but if they're multipage patterns it's all ready done from my end. If it's an 8 x 10 pattern and you want to blow it up larger you may have to print it and go to the local copy shop to have it enlarged. I'll have to do some homework on this one. Easiest way would be to contact the designer and see if he/she can size it for you from their original artwork ... if that's possible.

| Scott,
Some print drivers have an option to print to scale where you can enlarge the picture by some percentage. There are also some freeware out there that can convert pdf files to jpg. Then you can open them in other programs and enlarge them as needed.

| Scott (in AZ):
My local Kinko's fast printing store has the ability to print in B&W to a large format plotter (36X24, or "D" size print) from one of their computers.
If I recall correctly, the print was $2.50 per sheet, plus computer time.
I only used the service once, but that was more than enough to discover that it is easier to just order the print, and copy the print.

| I went out and looked for freeware. Either it wasn't free or way above my puter skills. Any other ideas? Letting Office Max etc scan it and put it on a disk would probably fix my problem but then adds costs for my storage.

| Scott, you can go to the Adobe website and download version 8.0 of the reader. When you open a PDF in Adobe reader, it allows you to save the file as a jpeg, which you can then open in another program for resizing |

| The easiest way I've found is to use the spreadsheet program in Open Office (google Open Office). It's the open source (free) version of Excel. Open the PDF in Acrobat Reader, select all, copy, and paste it into the spreadsheet. Excel automatically tiles documents that are larger than 8.5 x 11 (as long as you choose 8.5 x 11 as the paper size)

| Sue,
I have Acrobat Reader 8.1.2 and can't find out how to save as a jpeg. It only lets me save as a pdf or text file. Please share the secret.
Thanks.
