| Hello Folks
I
I purchased a scroll saw in very good clean condition I was so excited to get back in the swing of things but I found it has some pieces missing so I am looking for the manufacturer but it seems to no longer exist.. it is a 15 " VALUE CRAFT made in 1989...address given East Windsor, Conn. 06088
Seriel #019555. I hope someone out there has one or one made very simular...it looks very much like a older model Hegner. It has a zigzaggy spring (I forgot the name) and I need the tension rod ( I made my own with some nuts and bolts from the shop....it works...so far... and the fork that holds down the piece-work is missing ......help please ![005[1]](http://www.scrollsawer.com/forum/images/smilies/005[1].gif) |

Sorry Patty, sometimes the Devil takes over.
I can't help with your problem, except to say don't lose any sleep over the hold down being missing.
I forgot to extend a welcome.
Welcome to the forum, and I'm sure that you'll get a plethora of answers from members that much more knowledgeable than me.

| Patty,
If you are talking about the work hold down, don't! It is the first thing most scrollers take off. It gets in the way and is usless.
I will probably get a call from OSHA now. ![004[1]1](http://www.scrollsawer.com/forum/images/smilies/004[1]1.gif)

| Agree. The hold down just seems to get in the way. Is that a siren I hear in the background?

| I had a lot of trouble when I started scrolling and the first advice from a lot of seasoned scollers was to get rid of the hold down. Finally got the guts to take it off and it's been wonderful since. Then I bought the DeWalt and that one was not installed, so it's still in it's bag somewhere...

| P - 20 I have I took the hold down off just about the time it hit the shop . Waste of money if they think that sells the saw. |

| Croaker,
It was OSHA who made them put it on. In most countries the companies don't have it on the saws.

| If the holddown is the only thing missing from your saw, you have a perfect saw. Usually the things hold the work too far from the blade to keep the blade from pulling up and shredding your beautiful work anyways. (I think. Fretwork artists please confirm!) This is true for the marquetry I do - if my finger gets much beyond 1/4" from the blade, the veneers start separating and making trouble.
