Default Making the most of sand paper

G'day all,
Another little thing that I do and maybe you have not thought of it.
When using palm sanders or even sanding by hand with a block it's frustrating when that new piece of paper tears.
To prevent this I always cover the back of the paper with masking tape before using it.
I have tried using other tapes, the shiny ones slip on the backing pads, and cloth tape is overkill so just good old cheap masking tape does the job.

All the best

John, it amazes me how we are always on the same link. those are some great ideas. would you like to know mine? I too love the palm sanders. but hated the tear away thing. so this is what I do. I have 4 palm sanders. probley would like more. when I can aforde them. but i found this stick on sand papper, that sticks to most anything. it is thick so don't tear much. I cut it to fit 4 of my palm sanders. in differant grits. they last along time.and when done, I just peel it off. clean the palm sander with some minerl spirits. and stick a new piece on. and to handy. here is the empho. they are buy Porter-Cable Corp stick on roll. cut to fit 1/4 to 1/2 sanders. they stick to metal, fiberglass, painted surfaces, and more. I bought mine from wood craft. www.woodcraft.com I stick this stuff to lots of things, dowls. finguernail files. my desk. my palm sanders. lots of stuff. here is some pictures. comes in so handy. can't tell you how much. your friend Evie
