Sorry, new to this. Went back and found out I had not gone far enough to move the pictures as I should have.
I think they are there now.

Hi Woody,
Those Santas are great!
Was that your pocket knife?
Oh please don't tell me that is what you use to carve them.

Thanks for all the nice comments about my Santa carving. I enjoyed carving it.
Most of my basswood becomes either a cowboy or Santa.

Michelle, I put that pocket knife up because there were a few people asking about different carving knife types, and I happen to use one of these for lots of stuff, but mostly 'whittlin''.

Yup, I got this one at the local Boy Scout supply shop, but you can find these at most good hardware stores. *This one is a Camilus and sells for around 25 bucks. Ask for the 'whittlers' knife, because there is a similar small pocket knife called a 'stockman' that doesn't have the squared off saber blade, but a round tip sheepsfoot blade. *Actually I think that would make a good whittling knife, too. * Case, Uncle Henry and Buck all make similar knives from $30 to around $80. *This is the best for the money that I have found. *If you need a lead on a scout shop in your area, let me know and I'll see if I can locate one.

OK, I just found the URL for this knife. *Try http://www.scoutstuff.org

Then click on the 'Enter Here' button, and scroll down on the left to 'camping'. *then scroll down to knives and whittling knife. *I think it will price out at $23.95 and you can order on line. *National supply is usually a little slow in shipping so if you order do it early!
