Callyne, Donna, and Charollete, I used the crystal cote on a Dragon releif carving and a Fish carving. I like it. When you do a Santa do you just put on the pupil or the whole eye?

I cover the whole eye, when I do use it. Woody01 |

Hey Mel, For the first coat, I drop it right in the middle of the eye and just barely (with the tip of a toothpick) pull it to the corners of the eyes. I don't make more than one pass each way--cause if you pick at it too much, you can lift the eye paint right off your carving. Subsequent coats are just dropped right to the center and left alone. Sometimes I put 4-5 coats on before I get the depth and shine I want. Glad you liked it. Donna T |

I'm currently in the process of drawing me up a pattern for Santa, I'll give it a try.

I agree with Donna's advice, I too cover the whole eye on the first coat then just touch the following coats to the colored part of the eye to give it the right depth and shine. The only tricky part is not messing too much with the first coat, ended up picking it off and repainting lots of eyes when I first started using it. Good luck! Callynne

I haven't tried covering the whole eye..just the pupil. When I get a drop slightly too big , the stuff runs to the corners of the eye and seems to flatten the appearance, so I just put a small drop in the center? Surface tension is a little tricky there! (plus gravity : ..)

I'll give it a try, so far I'm pleased with it, I just finished a walking stick, and I'm going try it on the eyes. I guess I'm lucky I haven't peeled the paint off yet, thanks for the advice folks.
