wonderful Santa's again I like them just the way they are with no paint. Love the wood grain showing through. That doesnt look like bass wood, what kind of wood is it. Also were these patterns out of your head or were they done from a rough out? Regardless what they are they are wonderful carvings, am I on your Christmas list? . Thanks for sharing them with us.Colin |

Great carvings! And no, Colin, I'm on his Christmas list first! The folks who really are on your Christmas list for these delightfully georgeous carvings are very lucky indeed. I love the wood and the excellent job of carving that you did to bring them to life. Why paint them? Thanks for sharing. Donna T |

These santas are basswood roughouts from Dave Stetson. I finished them with boiled linseed oil. The pretty lady is also basswood and was finished with Danish Oil.

Nice santas! But it always seems to me a santa needs to be painted...what is a santa if he isn't red suited? LOL |

Your Santa's are finished woth BLO. They kinda look like Butternut. How did you get the defined grain with Basswood? Very nice job! I agree with some of the others. I think I would leave the one on the left just like it is. ![]() Jim
