I am looking for a product called PEG. It is used to preserve fresh cut wood to prevent cracking. IE: slab from a tree. The last time I saw it was in a woodworking mag. about 20 years ago.

Knothead - Rockler has Polyethylene Glycol (PEG) which is a green wood stabilizer. They also have pentacryl another preservative.
