I've voted Other because the vast majority of my compound scrolling has been with ash. However, I've also tickled some blocks of pine and oak, so I'm not averse to using other woods.

I wish I could click on more than one.
I use maonly poplar but I have used maple, walnut, and teak.
I have also used pine and cedar but didn't care for either.

I use what ever is in the cut off bin that is the right size. I try to avoid the real hard woods as I have a problem with burning when using them for compounds.

Mostly cherry & mahogany. Have tons of problems with hard woods and just get discouraged!

One of the other reasons I like poplar is it is easy to come by. You can get square poplar dowels at HomeDepot, or even Canadian Tire (more than just tires)
