Default Tilting your saw forward?

I am sorry, but I have read a lot of posts. Did I see one that stated about tilting the saw forward? If so why? If I am wrong,Sorry! I have been out of this for a while!

yes, a week or two ago there was one asking why people do this. I think we determined that this is a phenomenon created by short people.

Just makes it easier to see what you are doing if its tilted slightly forward.

I have used my scroll saw with the table level and tilted forward and so far I am partial to it being slightly tilted(just easier for me to see what I am doing)

So I would say its just a matter of preference.

The thread was here Pep - Titling scrollsaw

At least it started out with tilting a saw and ended up being about tipping cows ... lol

And this helped? I too have neck and back problems to the tune of 9 deteriorating disc's. I raised the saw so I didn't have to bend down so far to work and added a stool, but was thinking about raising the back a bit to get a better downshot on the work in progress. I saw plans for a saw table earlier this week that actually has a tilt mechanism built into the table. I was wondering about the vibrations it may enhance. My saw attaches to my work table with 'T" tracks and star knobs so I can remove it easily when I'm working on something that takes up the whole table. I could add the tilt to the platform the saw sits on so it becomes part of the base.

Pop,
I'd love to see photos of your setup! That sounds like a great idea!

I have my saw tilted because it gives me a better view of my piece and it makes these short arms easier to reach the tension knob.

Thanks for the info, I will give it a try, and being 5'3" and a half ( I'm proud of that 1/2" ) This might help, I cant get my table any lower!
Thanks

Smile reply for pop

in reply to pop, i have spondulosis in the top of my spine which gives me limited neck and shoulder movement and i was having real discomfort whilst using the saw so iraised it up an inch at a time till i was happy with the height, i still have pain but that is not getting aggrevated by using the saw, i have'nt really noticed about vibration my saw is'nt even bolted down as i only have a small workshop with limited space so i need to be able to move it about, but i am thinking about trying to re-arrange everything ( i'm having a new kitchen sometime this year so i'll have a few kitchen units to use use as benches) planning, planning, planning, it never stops does it?
