Default Halloween Magnets

Bought the pattern for $1. They're supposed to be about 5-6 inches each and I shrunk them down to about 1/3 of that.

I have to admit, I feel guilty posting these types of things. Yes, I cut them with the scroll saw but they arent' very detailed except for the painting. Maybe I need to find a painting forum to join too.

I'm just not a big fan of fretwork, cutting it myself that is. Too much stopping and starting and trying to get that blasted blade back in the blade holder.

Hi Kelly

Each to their own. You've certainly got a talent for painting and if the scrolling involved is peripheral, well... so be it! I happen to think your work is delightful and I hope we'll see more examples of it. With Christmas approaching, I can't wait to see what you've got up your sleeve.

These are so cool. Halloween is one of my favorite times of the year.

Don't ever feel guilty about posting scrolling or the painting. Scrolling isna't about how intricate a piece is. It is about using a tool and having fun doing it.
You are certainly talented in both areas of scrolling and painting.

Those magnets show the fun and brighter side of Halloween. Quite a contrast to the darkside of things

Those are kewl Kelly! I wish I could paint like that. As Carl and Gill already stated, there's more to scrolling than fretwork and your work certainly proves that!

Hi Kelly, I agree with everyone else. I think they're pretty cool, both the scrolling and the painting. Please don't hesitate to post more of your work, it's great.

Kelly, like others have stated, painting is an art in itself and your work certainly is artistic. If I was to attempt painting somehting like this, I would start with 1/4", paint them, sand them, repaint, sand again, repeat a few more times and by the time I got done I would have 1/16" of bare wood because they would never look good enough.

Keep scrolling, painting and posting - please.

Nice job, I can't imagine any kids that wouldn't look up to you for those.

Thumbs up Cool!!

Swell job, Kelly!
I expect that any of us would like to be able to paint that well.
And if you used a scroll saw, it's scrolling!!
I think more than kids will love them - I especially like the bat and that crazy spider - might have something to do with those nifty fangs!!
Please keep showing us your stuff.
Sandy
PS Where did you buy that fun pattern (If you don't mind someone else doing them, too)?

Kelly ~ those look great!!
I was a painter before a scroller - bought the scrollsaw because I couldn't cut out the intricate ornaments I wanted to paint. That led to fretwork. I do both now - more painting actually, especially around this time of year! PM me if you want some painting forums to join....

Thanks for the kind words everyone. I'll keep posting my stuff.

Gill, as for Christmas, I still have to get through Halloween and Thanksgiving. I could use another week if not two before Halloween. Too many Scare D. Kats to finish before then. I've got folks at work now wanting to buy some of my magnets. I need to figure out a way to paint at work when I'm not busy (sure the boss will love that).

Sandy, I ordered it from thewindfieldcollection.com. The item number is HC8. It's supposed to a Halloween garland. Each one is actually about 5 or 6 inches but I didn't like the way the garland looked so I shrunk them down to what I considered magnet size. I think they would make great lapel pins too. The spider and bat may be a little large, but the rest would be just about right.

The bat, skeleton head and mummy (the bandages) all glow in the dark. They look really cool at night on the black fridge.
