Default Spiral size for stacking?

I've using a FD-NS 2/0 to stack cut 1/8" BB x 2 with great results. The control is great and it doesn't cut to fast or to slow and it doesn't wer the blades out quick. I'm wanting to up production and cut 1/8" x 3 or 4 for a total of 3/8" and 1/2" cuts. What size spiral will be best for those size cuts? Should I go up and use a #1 and #3 respectively?

The 2/0 spiral should work just fine even with a 1/2" stack, it will go a little slower but that should be it. If you do go with the #1 spiral you will notice it to be a little more aggressive, there really should be no need for a #3 unless your doing say some viening and that is the size you need.

I pretty much just use 2/0 spirals for my projects and on occasion a #1. I bought half a gross of #5 spirals almost a year ago when I first started, and I have yet to use even a dozen.....

I think I tried a 2/0 on a 3/8" piece and felt like I was pushing it size wise and that's why I backed up to stacking only 2 pieces. I might be wrong though. If I use a 2/0 on 3/8" or 1/2" should I speed it up some? I normally run my 788 on 5 or 5 1/2 speed all the time for the portraits and hardwood stuff.

I too have a 788 and I cut with my saw on it's fastest setting, especially when stack cutting, but do what feels most comfortable to you, and still allow you to maintain good control.
