I am so jealous of all of you who get the chance to go to these shows, picnics, and the Fox Chapel Open House. I live in southern California and haven't seen anything like that out here yet. We have a couple of events during the year where a few craft tables are set up, but that's as close as I get to anything fun associated with scrolling.

Does anybody know of anything available for us in the southwest? Or maybe we should just start our own annual picnics and get togethers? That would be fun. No, I'm not volunteering in getting this going. I just don't have the time to set something like this up. Maybe when I retire from the Navy in 4 years.

Oh well. I guess it's time to get back to work.

Hi Jim8Mad,

There is a scrolling event in Phoenix in the spring. SAW held an Expo in Escondido in 2002. I realize that Oregon is a long way to go for you, but there is an annual picnic there on the last Saturday of July.

There are several scrollsaw clubs in the San Diego area. You can see a list of clubs by checking the Local Chapter tab at the SAW web site. Both clubs and Local Chapters are listed. Maybe you can find a group close enough to you to join and they can help you get a picnic started out there. That was our hope when we held the Expo in Escondido, that the clubs would continue to hold an event out there. Good luck in your search.

Dale,
Are you going to be able to sleep Friday night?
I see on the website that they are giving away a DeWalt 788 again, but the mailer I got said they are giving away an Excalibur EX-21.
You aren't planning on winning again are you??

Another one has come and gone.
There were fewer vendors, visitors and contest entries than last year, but we had a good time anyway. Nine members of our club made the 8 hour round trip and didn't win a single door prize! We did leave plenty of money there, though!
I did manage to match a face to the lucky788scroller name while he was manning the Toys in the Attic booth. Nice to meet ya Dale! Too bad BobD and Shannon couldn't be there, but there's always next year.
As soon as I wake up a little more, I've got to unload the wood from the Jeep.
P.S. I was the one who didn't sleep much on Friday night. Kept waking up every hour and looking at the clock so I wouldn't over-sleep!
