That's a lovely piece of work . I thought it looked familiar so I checked the latest edition of SSW (page 22) and there's the very same piece, nicely framed! I think the frame does set the picture off.

Nick Berchtold's designs are very attractive. He's very talented, especially when you consider how young he is.

Maybe it is my German heritage, but I like defined edges. I think a nice frame would finish this beautiful piece of work nicely. Or mounted on a framed background would also look very nice.

Personally, I like it without the frame. Seems "cleaner" to me. Lets the beauty of the piece speak for itself.

I also agree that it looks great without a frame, this is a beautiful piece and to me the frame may take away from it somewhat. Just my 2 cents worth.

I also agree that a frame might distract somewhat from the beauty of that piece . I prefer frames on portraits and similar items but I think that particular piece being intarsia rather than a portrait would be best left as is.
