Default Graphics Software

Hi, I am a brand-new member and just read the postings on the pattern making software. I'd like to learn to make my own patterns, however, I'm not interested in making patterns from pictures but rather things like baskets and boxes.
What kind of software would be good to use (and easy to learn ) for doing geometric shapes that have to be repeated in specific increments?

Hi,

There is a software that is talked about a lot: it's called sketch-up and there is a free version available for personal use.

It was just bought out by Google or Yahoo or something like that. You may want to have a look at it.

You could also look at older or new versions of VISIO, they could also fill your requirements.

Gud luck to you,
Marcel

A couple that I believe are available for the MAC platform to do what you want are Corel Draw and Adobe Illustrator.

If I remember right, Bob uses a Mac in the SSW office. Maybe he could give you a few ideas.

We've got Adobe Illustrator, which is a great tool, but it is VERY expensive! ($500+). I'm not sure about corel draw...

I do mainly text work here in the office, so if you want to know what desktop publishing software and word processing software...I can help out...but I don't do graphics <grin>

Sorry!
