Value of used Scroll Saws

Would folks please let me know when Scrollmates were stopped being made and how to establish a value for an old scrollsaw.

Normaly... used equipment is sol`d for less than 1/2 of new price. I paid $600 for a 1986 Hegner this year and I paid $15 for a 1986 Jet scroll saw last month.

I would imagin that the price would also be saw dependent. There are some saws I would not pay$15 for new.

Half of new price of 20 years ago or half of new price today ?? I am trying to make a fair offer but also fair to me. It is through a friend who has no idea like myself of value or what Dad one time paid for it. It seems some models were once sold for $100 and some $350 and have not been able to a specific model number or which model sold for which.

I have a scrollmate 21" that I bought at a yard sale for under a hundred dollars. Yes, PS Wood still supports the scrollmate. It is basically the same saw as the one they sell today. Originally it sold for about $600. Your price will be, as has been said by many, dependent upon condition and number of scrollers and tool hawks in your area. Ultimately, the value of the deal is in your mind, what is a good deal in one area at, for example, $200 is above average price in another. If the saw has the features that you want and is in good working order, then the value to you is the key factor. Don't focus on the size of the deal, that's just for bragging rights and doesn't cut any scrollwork.

I'm not familiar with the Scrollmate, but, the value of a saw depends on it's condition & what brand saw it is. Also how old it is will make a difference too. You do need to know if the saw is still mfg'd & if it is, what the dollar value is of that saw. Then you need to determine if it is in good enough condition for you to purchase. You have to decide how much you will spend & if possible compare with another saw price. It's difficult to say an exact amount for a used saw. Good Luck

what size are you referring to for the Scrollmate. I bought a 21" very lightly used for 150 about 2 years ago. PS Wood still makes the same design and parts are available. Its not a popular saw and I think a price in the 100 - 150 range is about right assuming its in good condition.
