A Few Name Plates
Well just to let everyone know that I still do scroll when it is needed. This was the third order from the same person. I have about 6 hours in this project maybe start to finished. I never really kept good track of the time. I did all the designing, cutting and gluing one day and the spray can finish the second day.
But I am still spending most days playing on the wood lathe making more bowls. I had to start stacking them on the floor because the shelf is full.

Wow! Rick, you sure have been busy. I like the base on the name plates. What are you going to do with all these bowls? My birthday isn't until June....:-)

That is not all of the bowls, maybe a third of what I have turned and on hand. But I have enough wood here waiting to do that many easily again. Turning is so addictive, I think worse than scrolling.

Wow, Rick. Where do you get all that energy. I know that you are a speed scroller, but 6 hours? You are an ambitious fellow. And I like those bowls. All for sale or do you donate to charities as well?

Now that's what I call some serious bowls! I'd like to see more pictures of those.

If you go to my web site I have a whole section now on turning. I have more pictures in the "New Display Area" section of what I have been turning. Also at the bottom of the turning section index check the "Delta 46-460 Lathe" for more pictures. Just look around all the turning pages really.
Right now I just keep stacking them up. If something came up in the way of a local charity they might get a few.

How do you do the bases? Is that a blind/stop dado and then insert the name?

I design the name with Corel Draw. The names are cut then I cut a, 2 1/8" wide by 1 1/2" longer than the name, block of wood. Then rout the edge on the router table, sand all then glue the name to the base.
