Hey Skeeter, You can take 2 nails nail them into a board say 6" apart take a piece of string say 18" long tie it into a loop put it over the 2 nails take your pencil onto the loop pull it tight and draw keeping the string tight and you will make a perfect ellipses

Hi Skeeter
I did a blog on Lumberjocks on how to make a shop made oval jig. Go to Lumberjocks where it says Blogs, scrolldown till you see the page list and go to page 10 and find my latest blog under wdkits1 Buffalo box. Find my avatar in the upper left corner. Scrolldown to the bottom where it says--view all 25 entries--scrolldown to where it says--Shop made oval jig.

Depending on how big you want it many drawing programs have a elipse tool where you can draw one on paper from the program and then just print it.

I have see a formula for the length of the string mentioned above but don't remember how it goes. Maybe some math wiz out there can show you how it works and then you can get the exact size you want...

Good luck....

I tried following your maze of instructions and got miserably lost. A link might have been better. Just a suggestion.
