Default speed of saw

having a little trouble searching for the answer. I am cutting through 3/4" hardwood.

do I want a fast speed, I can hold/control the push of the wood. Or do I want a slow speed, not so much friction on the blade.

TIA

You don't specify what type of hardwood. It all depends on the wood and blade used. Make sure you have clear packing tape on top of your pattern or wood to stop burning of the wood. Just let your blade do the work.

I always use packing tape on 3/4" hardwood. I would suggest experimenting on some scrap with different blade and feed speeds until you find what works best.

If your burning the wood, blade speed too fast. (or dull blade) If your having trouble keeping control on the fine details, blade speed too fast.(or wrong blade). Blade speed too slow, it just takes a little longer to cut. Better to start on the slow side.
