I've been using painters safe release masking tape(blue tape) and glue on that, more expense but less work and y'all know how I hate work.

Several options, Primarily I never glue directly to the wood I can't stand the smell of any of the solvents or thiners. I use the blue tape for small projects under the pattern. for the big projects I use removable clear contact paper. And I now use a Xyron machine to put the adhesive on my patterns. No more spray glue either.
