Default flower for a bug

New guy here, have done any ww in the past 4 years, thought I would get started again.

My wife has a "new" beetle. They have a bud vase.

I think I would like to make a daisy on a stem. I don't want to just cut out flat pedals. I was thinking of maybe cutting on the side of a piece of wood--like say 3/4 thick, the pedals in a slight curve and then side glue them together with a dowel (stem) in the middle. Does that make any kind of sense?
TIA

It sounds like you want to do compound cutting. Use a 1 1/2 square piece of wood cut the leaf face on the front, tape all the pieces together and cut the edge of the leaf on the side. Look around web sites for more info on "compound cutting". Fox Publishing has books on it and there is usually an article in the SSW & C Magazine.
