Default Glueing Plexiglas

how do you glue Plexiglas to maple without it coming off?
I tried to make some coasters and the Plexiglas does not stay glued to the wood.

Plexiglas is acrylic and doesn't really get glued, it gets solvent welded. There are special solvent glues for plexi but there are important preparations

You want a very tight no gap fit. Then you use the application syringe to apply the solvent to the joint. The solvent has a capillary action and wicks into the joint to weld the pieces together.

You can also use superglue, but you should make sure you get the one for plastics.

I tried the super glue once and it left a smoky film on the plexiglass. I thought it might have been a chemical reation, but needless to say it was a disaster. Not sure if it said it was for plastic. Be sure to try it on a scrap piece first. I have had good luck with "Seal All" when gluing two pieces of plexiglass each other. I will also be interested in what others have tried.

Glueing plexiglass together is "welded" using acetone wicked on the perfect seam after clamping together. Attaching it to wood? hmmmm. screws?

I use Johnsons Klear Floor polish to coat the plexi first then Superglue can be used with no fogging. In the USA it is called Johnsons Future Floor polish.
It is used by modellers before supergluing the canopies onto model aircraft and it is self levelling.
I believe that it is has now been rebadged under the "Pledge" label in both USA and GB so google it.

For plexi to plexi I would use a solvent glue like RezenBond. for the plexi to wood I would consider a bead of clear silicon.

Ive used a product called E6000.It comes in a tube like a small toothpaste tube. Its clear, gooey, and it works well for gluing acrylic to wood, even if the wood is finished prior to gluing. You can get it in most big box stores, and craft stores, near their glues and epoxies.

I have used a product that goes by the name of IPS-Weld.on #16 for glueing acrylic together and also to glue acrylic to wood such as windows in a clockand it worked better then super glue. Try it on scrape pieces first.
