Default Dremel Scroll Saws

Maybe I missed it but can anyone out there tell me what happened witht he Dremel scroll saws. I have one and have had no problems with it but a friend asked for a recomendation and when I went looking for the Dremel it seems that they aren't being sold anymore. I see them advertised but it states out of stock unknown when they will come in.

Anyone know?

From what I've read and been told is that they aren't making anymore of them, and the ones that are left is the only one's that are being sold. I can't remember which book I read the article in but it was that they for some reason wasn't making the money from them and they were more concentrating on their rotary tool. If I remember right.

Don't feel bad... I have a Dremel scroll saw too. I only paid $100 for it so no great loss if it checks out on me. This is the way things are going in all aspects of manufacturing. Many products are being fazed out that are not profitable.

Went looking through the back of the shelves at Home Depot hoping they had one tucked away. When they stop carrying things they mark them down if you can find them.....No luck just the usual Dremel display with the hand held dremel tool. Even on line they state the good things about it but then it shows out of stock unknown when it will be filled.

Going to start saving my pennies for an upgrade....maybe the Hytachi from Lowes $179. Does anyone now about its quality?

No longer making them? Hmmmm...that makes me sad. I have a Dremel 1830, and am very satisfied with it, and Dremel's customer service. I checked out the Hitachis at Lowe's before I bought my Dremel, and think they would also be great machines.
I would dearly love to have a DeWalt, but can't afford it.

If you have a Menards in your area, check them out. Thats where I got my Dremel 1800 and I think my Menards still carry them. The 1830 replaced the 1800. The same thing without the disc sander on the side

Yea they are still places that are selling them but it's only the because they have them in stock, they aren't making anymore and only making a few of the replacement parts. I have found a place "ereplacements" or something to that effect that still has some or can still get some of the parts. I too also have one of the saws though it isn't used anymore since I have the other two I have. Mostly b/c I have and EX-30 and it's pretty much the only one I use. But I did do some searches for parts as I am thinking about rebuilding the dremel and found that site and a couple others. Just do a search for you model and then go through the results.
