Default Template material?

Good morning all,
I've had a request to do several of the same pattern and so I was wondering what material you all think is best to make a template from. Thought I'd try one since normally I just use paper and adhesive and contact paper.
I've searched this site and have a few ideas. What are yours?
Anne

Mylar is perfect for making templates. You could use 1/8" Baltic Birch plywood too.

Basically anything that is thin, easy to cut and shape, but will hold its shape, will work. I've used leftover paneling scraps, tempered hardboard, mdf, etc. Even card stock or the cardboard from a cereal box will work in a pinch.

1/8 " Masonite

1/8 " MDF

.002 plexi

just some of the things I have used to make pattern pieces from.

I've used hardboard and MDF with good results. I make templates for almost every project. Rarely make a project twice but I like the templates.

I've used almost all of the above. They all work. What ever you have available.

Thanks all. These are all great ideas. I'm going to make a template and give it a try or may just keep on the way I'm going.
Thanks for all the tips though.

When I worked for Home Depot, I got their used sign material that was plastic and it works great. Holds up well, is easy to cut with scissors and the price was right.

If you got any scraps of Formica it works great for pattern making.
