Default Michael Jackson

The pattern for this tribute to Michael Jackson was designed by Gayle. I cut it in tropical hardwood 1/8th ply. Magic

Looks great, Magic. By the way, what is "tropical hardwood?"

Hi Shawn. Tropical hardwood - I used it as a generic term as its a hardwood grown in the tropics - Possibly New Guinea, Indonesia or Fiji. The one here is marketed as plywood in NZ under the name Keruing. A lighter one I use is called Meranti. They're both available in 1/8th inch thicknesses [3.5mm]. Birch plywood is a luxury item. A piece 12" x 6" x 1/8" I saw was priced at NZ$11.20 plus 12 1/2% sales tax from the wholesaler. I make too many mistakes to afford it. Most of the DIY places here only carry sheets of C/D grade plywood in bigger thicknesses. Hope this all answers your question. Magic

It answers it very well, Magic. Thank you!

I think the ply you used looks better than birch, for what it's worth. Nice, rich color.
