As you can see most of the cutting here was with a table saw, but the curves were done on the scroll saw. Both projects were made out of western red cedar. The cradle is for my grand daughter and the mail box is for my mom.

Nice job on the mail box, especially on the segmented door.... but the cradle is the "cat's meow". Pat

| 'Senior' member - no way! | Very nice work Alan - I'd also follow Pat and single out the cradle for special praise. Great design and reminds me of a rustic Scandanavian cradle I saw yonks ago. Where did you get the pattern or idea from? Just a nit-picking question on the mail box - does it have built in WiFi or is there a hidden cable socket somewhere? - hehehe!

I love the cradle! And, Id be afraid to use a mailbox like that around here, to many kids with nothing better to do than vandalize things, and mailboxes take a bit hit around here. But yours is a dandy!

Dale, I thought the same thing, when I saw that beautiful mailbox. We've got the ugliest mailbox in the country. It's one of the large ones that can hold packages. It's been hit with baseball bats, bricks, and even a big orange traffic cone. Someone had a beautiful replica of their home for a mailbox. No telling the hours of hardwork and the skill of the woodworker who made it. Vandals set it on fire.
