Default Chess Box Progress

Here are some shots to show the progress on the two boxes I'm building for a chess set. The first shot shows the maple and walnut box that I made and the calculation error in the divider size. I have redone the pattern and have it laid out on a piece of MDF, just have to cut it.

The next shows the first case of cherry and padauk and the custom handles and lid lift I built.

Here is the divider detail for the case 1. I have taken the time to put different height bases in each cubbyhole to correspond with a particular piece. This way you don't have to dig down 4 inches to get a 2 inch piece. Also note the trays for checkers.

I have been following your projects with much interest Jim and am very envious of the quality of your pix. Hopefully next week, when I get to see a so-called computor expert, I will be able to show some pictures of the train project I've been bragging about but haven't been able to get onto this thread.
Keep up the good work

Looking forward to those pics. I get ideas from darn near every thing I see on this board.

Very nice Jim, the calculations for the drawers on my set was one of the most difficult parts of the process. I laid out a sheet of painters paper on my work bench and did my plans and calcs right there! (Calculator in hand by the way . . . ) Can't wait to see how this finishes!

I've got the wood and patterns for the hinges... need to get a dowel and the flocking and we could see it done this weekend.

That's real nice Jim. To bad about the calculation error. I think that type of error has happened to me once or twice before. I like your box and choice of wood. The custom handles are a nice touch. What a great idea!
