I tried to log into Woodworking Friends, but when I clicked Create Account, nothing would happen. Would love to get into the site as I am also very interested in creating jigsaw puzzles from family photos, family homes, etc.

To expand on Norsmada's comment. If a piece of a puzzle or game will fit into the paper tube in the center of a roll of toilet paper, a child under three could swallow it and choke. As to gluing the picture to the wood, I like to use Mod Podge. Cheaper than Aileen's and easier to apply. I put it on the picture, and use a roller to smooth it down. It doesn't seem to wrinkle the paper as much as Aileen's does. If the picture is on glossy or thick paper already, it doesn't seem to wrinkle at all. After it dries, I either spray it with two or three thin coats of triple thick glaze (expensive) or put on two or three coats of gloss Mod Podge. george

Dan, a few years ago I made some puzzles from Thomas the Tank Engine and Bob the Builder calendars for one grandson who just turned 2 and was really good at the time with puzzles. I mounted the full pictures with Aileen's Tacky Glue, as usual, and then cut each main figure out. Each was about 4 to 8 inches tall (or thick). Then I cut each figure into 3 to 6 pieces, along the color lines of their uniforms or engine parts, etc. I was with him when he put them together. The pieces were all mixed up and he rapidly separated them according to color and then concentrated for about 15 minutes and put them all together. They were quite successful and he did them again and again. Good luck....and have phun..... Carter |

djpit. I'm not sure what kind of problems you had with the Woodworks Friends site. Were you able to creat an account? Or just what happened? I could not log on right away I think it took about 30 min after I replay to the email I got. But once I did I had no problems and I was take right to the page by Carter Johnson. Carter that for your input. That sound like a good idea. My wife had the idea of find a calender with Thomas. I guess I see if I can find one this weekend. Then I ahve to order some wood and get to work..........wait it not really work is it?

hello, we use a spray adhesive from wal mart called duro, it runs about $3.79 per can and then once the pattern is glued down we cover it with a american or canadian made packaging tape, the tape quality suffers if it is not from one of these two areas and most of the time will not stick to itself. i usually over lap all my tape by 50 percent on top itself, this gives good coverage and adds a little extra lubrication to the blade in the middle where 90 percent of the cuts are being made. we get our tape from small independant stores here in town or around our area but if you look on the inside it should say where it is made, i have wasted more time and effort using substandard tape because if it does actually stick, i have had the dust particles that come up with the blade embed under the tape and between the pattern which makes seeing the pattern really hard. just our two minnie pennies worth al toni and baby scroller |
