Default Wood Resource

Hello Everyone,

I have been seeing a few posts about where to get wood, and decided I would share my resource here as a post - not just a reply.

I have a couple of cabnet makers I get my wood from - either as their scrap (but to me, is a good sized piece); or if I need a piece for a huge project, they sell me a board for what they pay - which is direct from the mill.

I have gotten oak, cherry, african mohogony, walnut, hickory (the list goes on). I also get from them the 1/4" plywood that is used for the face of cabnets - again with a variety of woods on top/bottom. This is great to use for ornaments that are to be painted, or for the give a ways I make for my church (cuts cost down).

So...you may want to check to see if you have a cabnet maker in your area - and have a chat with them. The two places I have contacted were more than happy to sell me their scraps (which were collecting sawdust or in a box to be burned)...but for the most part, they were happy to help out a fellow wood worker.

Thank you Cheryl for the suggestions. I will check out some of the cabinet makers around here to see if they have any scraps they will sell to me.
