Default It arrived.... Yipee!!!

We got the DeWalt saw and stand on Monday. Just as scheduled. I think I love Amazon. lol

Dh had to work so dd11 and I put the stand and saw together. My daughter was VERY helpful and actually did most of the work.

We were finally able to get on the saw on Wednesday and cut some things out of 1x6 pine. That was the only wood that we were able to find with in a 150 mile radius of where we are. So, even though we usually cut ornaments dh cut me some chunky wooden things to try to remember how to cut. They are turning out pretty good I think.

DD11 Got to use the saw for the first time. After some initial fear she took to it quite well. I plan on spending more time with her to make her very proficient so she can help in the output. lol

Here are a few photos. I am painting thick wood till I get some thinner ornament wood. That should happen next week. As it is I am re-learning how to paint so it is a good thing.

Oh Yeah, since we got the scroll saw dh had been wanting for awhile, I was forced to buy the Dremel 400 that I have been looking at. :-) I got 90 or so attachments and a work station too. That little baby is going to be addictive.

The kidlet does not remember when we did this before. lol

She is so excited, I sit and paint while she is doing school and it has been
a tough week for her. She just wants to sit and watch me paint. I am training
her to ignore me during school hours.

Sounds like you are haveing fun. Painting is where I fall down so hats off to you. You could go looking around town for pallets, they are the 4'x4' wooden flats the freight companies use. A lot are just thrown away. So go ask and they might give you some. Just watch out for nails. I have several boxes of 1x6x1/2" oak from pallets.

Alan,
Good Idea, I cant use it, but good idea. lol

I am limited on how many and how large my tools can be. We are full
time Rv'ers and everything has to fit in a small enclosed trailer. We have to find our wood already milled and ready to go. I do some finish sanding but nothing tough.

We will check out the HD or Lowes at Prescott and see if they have any 1/4 Birch ply. If not we will order that online also. All good wood will have to be ordered online.

Default nice....

congratulations on the saw, I'm sure we'll be seeing a lot more great projects from you.
the next time your in town check out home depot and get you a couple boards of Poplar, have them cut it up in 3 or 4 foot pieces and that will give you a nice supply of wood fairly cheap.
poplar is a great wood for what your doing, easy to cut, easy to sand and it works great for painted projects....

I will check out the poplar. They did not have any in Flagstaff so I will try the closest real town on Tuesday. I have alot of trouble finding what I need in town and have to travel for it. Sigh.......

Dale, the only problem is that I cannot lift it out of the trailer by myself. I have to have help. I need to build a ramp and get wheels I think.

Thanks for the compliment on the painting. I am really rusty.
