Has anyone actually used their scrollsaw to make 45 degree cuts? I had to cut some 2" square pieces of 3/16" ply, and the edges had to be 45 degrees (yes, it's another Cubey puzzle box...). I've done this previously with a mitre saw, but the edges are always a bit rough, so i thought I would try with the scrollsaw... WOW! Was I scared!!!! Normally, my fingers are are close as 1/16" to the blade, and I feel perfectly safe. But tilt that table to 45 degrees, and it's a different story! There seems to be a lot more hungry blade, just waiting for you to slip. And the table, being tilted like that, is doing it's best to make you slip. And as for cutting in a straight line-forget it! You're lucky if you can hold the wood down, never mind straight lines... So it was back to the mitre saw, and a nice safe file to smooth things off... Bruce

G'day Bruce, I tried it once on the Dewalt and gave it up as a bad joke. The other day I gave it a go on the Ex21 and it sure made it easier with the machine tilting and the table staying level. I can't really think of an area where I''d use this feature, but just wanted to give it a shot.

I have, but never on anything that mattered. I done 30 degrees many times with good results, and wasnt scary to me, just takes a lil getting used to with guiding the wood.

I've done it on the DeWalt with no problems. Cut slower than usual. Diane
