Hello: I am kind of a born again wood jukie;as it were. I am looking at buying a scroll saw.probally for around 200.00 for now.and more than likley going to lowes... am I scoring any points yet?.I work at a wood shop that mostly works with partical boards and mdf.But I just like to come home and putz around..making whatever. I have been talking to some sword companies and I going to desgn a more futuristic type of stands for them. and some buddies told me to do so for other type of stands. trophy, guitar etc etc.but back to scroll saw's what brands do you all suggest??? Welcome fellow Minnesotan. For around $200, I'd recommend a Dremel They make decent saws and their customer service is top notch.

Can you be a little more specific about what "putz around..making whatever" means. Based on your post I would say get the best saw you can afford for the type work you plan to do. Features to look for are ,easy blade changing, ability to use pin less blades, and variable speed for a few. Also, if you are able to try one like you want. I would suggest you do that. I'm sure you will get more answers than mine. So, Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.
