Default Buying supplies online

I was wondering who you guys used to purchase supplies online.

I am looking for everything from sand paper to wood suppliers. I live 90 miles from the nearest town and there is not place to buy anything there. So I am learning to buy everything online. (I love my brown man..lol)

So, where do you buy?

Thanks
Missy

Missy, for years I have bought all my wood and some other supplies from Wildwood Designs in Wisconsin and have never had anything but the best quality and service. They have corrected the service problems they had a couple of years ago and their response to my orders has been excellent. At least for my puzzles, the wood is ideal...... Carter

Missy...

I'm a big fan of the brown guy, too...especially with today's cost of fuel.

I've found also that if the item I'm looking for will eventually be consumed (ie, sandpaper), buying in quantity makes the ratio of product cost vs shipping cost much better.

Sandpaper:

Here's a good place for sanding sheets (9x11) sold in packs of 50. I cut them down as necessary.
Wet or Dry Silicon Carbide Sandpaper Sheets

If you have a need for hook & loop sheets (9x11) here's a source. Not cheap but I haven't found another source.
Sandpaper.ca Online Store

Here's a couple other sources for abrasives:
AbrasiveSales.com Home Page for Coated and Bonded Abrasives includng abrasive belts, abrasive discs, sandpaper and abrasive cloth specialty products
Paper Sanding Sheets Sandpaper Sheets Sanding Sheets Sandpaper Sanding Tools

I've purchased from all the above except abrasives4sale.

Wood:

I don't use much birch ply (yet), but what I've bought online I got from this guy:
BALTIC BIRCH PLYWOOD, RUSSIAN, FINLAND, CRAFT PLYWOODS

Service was satisfactory, but probably should see what vendor suggestions you get from the more experienced scrollers here.

For solid wood I have a small sawmill, so I'm not much help to you there. Although for scrollsaw-size projects I often get very nice wood from short logs (ie, firewood) just from my bandsaw.

Tools:

I haven't been scrolling long enough to have favorite scrolling tool vendors, but for general tool selections it's hard to beat Lee Valley quality if they have what you want. Excellent customer service as well.

Other than that, let Google do the walking and search for the best price. I'm sure you've realized that best price includes shipping cost, for that can often make the difference.

Cheers.

Missy, I used to prchase my wood from Scroll Saw Patterns Plans Books & Blades for your projects - On Sale at Scroller Ltd.. Never had a complaint about their products or service. Now I just have to drive a couple miles to Scroll Saw Patterns, Plans, Scrollsaw Blades, Clock Parts, Woodworking Supplies as they moved here to Janesville, WI. They both have just about everything you need for scrolling.

thanks everyone. this gives me something to go on. I have been so accustomed to just running out and buying what I need. Now that I live
nowhere it is a challenge for me.

Missy, here a few sites worth checking out for wood. Peterson's Custom Lumber and Quality Lumber at Affordable Prices! Hardwood Lumber for all your woodworking needs! . Buying wood sight unseen can be a scary situation, but the sites I've listed are tried and true, always delivering up to and exceeding expectations, so no worrys there. Both are very flexible, and will cut you exactly what you request if possible, and neither inflate the shipping costs to line their pockets.
A couple places for other supplies, besides the ones mentioned already. Klockit - The World's Leading Clock Parts and Clock Movements Supplier for over 35 years and Ceramic Supplies, Craft, Gift and Hobby Supplies - National Artcraft. .Blades... I buy mine from Mike (3M on here) Also, Get yourself a subscription to Scrollsaw Woodworking & Crafts girl ! Within the pages you will find countless places to mail order anything you could possibly need scrollsaw related.
