Default Ex21 Question

I have the EX21-C with the tension lever on the top of the blade holder. I can see nothing in the instructions on how to apply different tensions to the different blades. The lever for blade tension is a 90 degree cam over lever that has to go all the way over to lock, so just how does one get a different tension? The "C" model also has a knob on the top at the back of the machine. I have read on here that that knob is to adjust the arms so that they are parallel to each other, but I can find no information in the manual as to how to go about measuring to accomplish this.

I totally love my EX-21, but one would think that the manual would be better, all of the info in it is for the old model with the tension lever on the side. I'm starting to think that the old model is better, and I can't imagine why they changed the tension lever to the new style.

Any help would be appreciated...

G'day Mike,
The tension leaver has two positions.
Straight up is for blades #'s 5 and smaller, and bring it right the way back over so it points at you and this is for the larger blades. This is the loose position so fit your blades when the leaver is in these positions then push over towards the machine to tighten as usual.

The adjustment at the rear can be used to parallel the arms, but after speaking to SEYCO, I was told that this can also be used to give a bit more tension to a big blade, and can be used to make double use of a blade, eg, close up the arms, cut and when blunt open up the arms and refit the blade this give about another 1" cutting. Hope this makes sense

John,

Thanks for the help, now it makes sense. I just wish that the companies that make machines like this would take a little time to correctly write the manuals to include all of the machines features...

Thanks again...
