Default Open Office Draw - Vector Graphics

It would appear that my Paint Shop Pro v9 is incompatible with Microsoft Vista (grrrrrrr.....) so I've been looking at the Open Office Draw (OOD) manual and found it seems to offer many of the features that are available in Corel Draw. Since Open Office is free, that seems like a pretty good deal to me!

Unfortunately, OOD doesn't yet support vector graphics properly. A filter of sorts is available but it looks unreliable and is still undergoing development. I'm wondering if some sort of OOD/Inkscape combination might be a way around this.

Is there anyone here who uses OOD for pattern design? If so, are there any suggestions for overcoming its vector graphics limitations?

Gill

Vista seems to be incompatible with most everything....

Gill,

I would be happy if Inkscape and Open Office played well together.

I don't think Open Office is honestly ready to play with the top seeded players. More of a Pro / Am player. IMHO.

I have to agree with you, Phil. Sadly, OOD is one of those programs which is frustratingly close to being just what I need, but not quite there. I love its layout, which closely resembles Paint Shop Pro, but until its developers go that little bit further I don't see it being much use to scrollers. If only it had proper vector graphic support, controllable blurring and the facility to use layers!

Back to the Gimp for me, then, which isn't the most user-friendly software around but at least it's got the features I need.

Oh, and I certainly agree with you, Diane. Vista is shockingly poor when it comes to supporting programs written for XP.
