Default New Puzzle and Link

Hi folks.......Here's a puzzle I just completed, front and back (with the back reversed). I try to finish 3 to 4 per month to keep up with my wife's assembling ability. This one is 330 pieces from 1/4" poplar, with some very intricate color-line cuts. The border has four concentric layers.

Below the puzzle pictures I've posted a link to my Picture Trail albums. They are arranged by date and if you open an album and scroll down the left side you can enlarge views of many others I've made over the past three years, just a part of my basement stock of over 450.

Hope you find these interesting and that they continue to stimulate some of you to try freehand puzzle cutting. To that end, I'm happy to help anytime.

PictureTrail

As always, have phun.......Carter

Carter,

Nice . . . as always. How wide are those border pieces? It seems like it would be tricky to cut the interconnects between them in such a narrow space.

Thanks....John, the black border pieces are roughly 3/8" wide. Have to be careful cutting the locking tabs....... Carter

Carter,
Thats unbelievable! Great job. It would take me three years to cut one puzzle. Can't imagine how to go about cutting a puzzle specially 300+ pieces. I may try one with two or three pieces. You are very talented.

Since I never use patterns, I really don't know where you can find those you want....but you can't go far astray by starting with the two sites below.

Rick's Scrollsaw

Scrollsaw Workshop

If you'd like instructions on how to cut freehand puzzles, here are some:

Good luck - and let me know if I can help..... Carter

As always Carter, wonderful! I know sometime ago you gave a link to getting started. Can you give it to me again? I am talking about gluing the picture to the wood, etc. I seem to have lost it and am already to make puzzles, just don't know how to start. I think it was Aileen's glue, glue the picture to the wood, then cover with glue again and let it dry for about 20 minutes? Right?

THANKS.

Betty
