Default Little help?

Bill,

I have been looking everywhere for "letter patterns", but all the ones I find are way too expensive for my budget.
Any way you could help me out?
Thanks, Mike

Mike.
Someone asked me the same question a few days ago on my own site .
Here is a copy of my answer.

I used the Pattern Printer program on Steve Good's site. Only one font and very limited in features but it works for that one style of letters.

Bill
I printed some names from the program and they are around 1" high. Do you buy small pieces of wood to make those? How much do you charge for the oak names?

Dianne.
There is a slider to move in the program to adjust height of the letters and then if you can't go to enough height you want there you can print them out and enlarge on a photocopier. Those ones I showed are 1.5" tall printed from the program.

I didn't buy small pieces of wood. I cut them out of a board that was 3/4" thick. The base and letters are all one piece.

I sell them for $2.00 a letter . Some get $3.00 a letter but you will sell way more at $2.00 and they are very quick and easy to make.

Thanks Bill. Will start by making for the kids to practice. Found the slider and will practice on some old wood I have around.

Diane.
I used to make them with a different program and used thinner wood for the letters and made a separate base for them. It was too time consuming and I had to charge $3.00 a letter and made less profit on them than charging $2.00 per letter for my more recent ones because the 3/4" wood is free standing and doesn't need a separate base.

I saw those on your site and wondered about it. Thanks for the explanation. Thicker wood is just fine for me. The less handling the better.
