| scrollsaw portraits editions / browning Hi .
There was a question asked awhile ago concerning Gary Brownings 2nd edition of Scroll Saw Portraits . Is it a 2nd printing or a new Portraits edition with new stuff ? I have looked around and so far haven't figured out if there is a difference .There are some for sale on Allan's scratch and dent . Old or new ? Cheers .Roger |

| Im not sure.I do know the 2nd edition has a half dozen less pages .First edition says 75 ready to use patterns on the cover, while the second edition says 'more than 70 ready to use patterns" on the cover. This book (2nd edition)is one of about 4 books that I have double copies of, and one of the books I would gladly trade for a book I havent got, or for a book that I do have, but cant seem to find in my chaotic disorganization. A couple other titles I have doubles of are are Neal Moores 'Animal Portraits in Wood" Marilyn Carmens "scrollsaw Relief", J.Nelsons "Inspirational Scrollsaw projects",and"Super Simple ScrollSaw Clocks".
couple books I either dont have, or I have and cant find... "Animal Puzzles for the Scrollsaw" by Judy Peterson, "3D patterns for the Scrollsaw" by Diana Tompson, and "scrollSaw 3D Animals" by Judy Erickson. I am willing to trade for any of these titles. Dale |

| I received an email about this morning, and forwarded it on to customer service... then I saw this post, so I figured I should actually get off my keester and check it out.
The first edition has 90 pages and the cover says 55 patterns.
The second edition has 106 pages and the cover says more than 70 patterns.
It looks like the following patterns are included in the second edition, but are NOT in the first edition:
Husky
German Shepherd
Ram
Howling Wolf
Camel
Spider
Snake
Mary with Jesus
Pope John Paul
Guardian Angel
Basketball
Soccer
Skateboarding
Skiiing
Frankenstein
Wolfman
Ronald Reagan
John Wayne
Groucho Marx |

| Shannon . I recieved the e-mail . Thanks for checking it out . My conclusion would be ,that it is an extension of the first edition with new patterns added . Cheers. Roger |

| So, now I am confused!!!! Sorry if I gave you the wrong info. I have 2 copies of the second edition, it has 106 pages indeed. On the cover it does say more then 70 patterns. Then, I saw this, Scroll Saw Portraits by Gary Browning (2004) - eBay (item 350053554603 end time May-26-08 14:37:57 PDT) and thought this was the first edition, on this cover it says 75 patterns, 112 pages. Now I did look closer at the sale description, and see the page count. Now I am confused, were there 2 different 2nd editions??????? Dale |

| Hi Dale .
I'm beginning to think this may be a question Mr. Browning can answer or the publishers could sort out . Or may be we should have stayed in school a few more years .Shannon answered and I pretty sure the 2nd edition has the same content as the first with more patterns . The reason I would like to get it is to try and figure out how to convert ( simply ) a pattern that I found of a bear head on the side of a mountain with a small bear on a ledge below it to a fret pattern ..It was with a couple others puzzle patterns in the Mary Maxim needle work and crafts catalogue . I looked at other corel draw etc. and a little voice in my head say's don't go there .Need a course ..
Looking at my books and I guess I have'nt collected any puzzle books .Some of the duplicates you have I have . We must have got in on the same great scratch and dent sale a couple of years ago . Cheers . Roger |

| I think that cover with the "75 patterns" must have been a "mock" cover issued at some time. To the best of my knowledge - it was the first initial printing, and then the 2nd printing with the cover that says "more than 70 patterns." Sometimes we need to create covers for marketing and sales purposes before the actual book is printed - and then those "mock" covers get out there and confuse folks.
Case in point... You'll start to see some marketing materials for the new subscriber premium we are putting together. I have BEGGED marketing to put a disclaimer "cover subject to change" on all those promo materials, but someone will get it when it's published and say - Hey! This is a different cover... Sorry folks - we don't print until July and they need to start selling now - so things will change.
Sorry - long winded answer - there are only two versions... Added patterns as above in the 2nd edition. |

| Shannon - the "subscribe now" page shows you get the older incentive magazine if you subscribe for 2 years - When do I need to subscribe to get the new one you are talking about? And is there a "mock cover" of it we can see?
