I have been commissioned to produce a humidor and have a couple of questions. It will be made from white oak, should it be lined with cedar? What would be the proper interior dimensions for such a box? Does any one know of a source for a good set a gauges/ humidifier or what ever you put in it? I am thinking of using white and red oak for the top scroll piece and doing an inlay of the Canadian flag since my buddy is Canadian. I have never done an inlay before either, something else to learn . . . . Thanks in advance for your time.

Thomas, see if this helps. I've also read that spanish cedar is the preferred lining material, but you have to watch it because it can be sappy. Fresh And Tasty: Build Our Mahogany Cigar Humidor - Popular Mechanics

Cool guys, thanks. That was a neat link there Jim and one beautiful humidor. I am going to hunt down a smoke shop, if I can find one here in Utah that is, and take a gander at some pre-mades for dimensioning ideas. The humidity controls come sized for 20, 50, 70 cigars etcetera so I need to understand what size those are. Since I do not smoke cigars I have no clue.

You could ask a smoke shop for one of their cigar boxes. Sometimes they give them away for free, other times they charge a few bucks. People like them for crafts like cigar box purses and whatnot. Anyway, that would be a great jumping off point and you'd have the dimensions at your fingertips. Plus a cool little box to hold some trinkets!
