Wink Create a pattern

Hi-
We are Kim and Kimm in Alberta, Canada.
Does anyone have any experience w/ the Coyote (pattern) software seen advertised in woodworking mag.s?
We now have a need and demand for creating our own scrolling and pyrography patterns.
If not Coyote ... any firsthand experience creating scrollong patterns from either
original artwork or photos?
We have a decent printer/scanner etc. (HP 6180) and a 'puter system that's
definitely up for it!

Thanks ...
I imagine once we get the hang of this we will be more prolific.

Welcome to our home on the net.
Coyote has a learning curve but if you print out the manual it isn't too hard to use.
There are some great pattern makers on this site, some use PSP and some like InkScape.
I am sure there will be lots of help offered.
....HMMMM Pyrography... that really burns me up . I would love to learn how to do pyrography one of these years.

Howdy and how do K1?

I have no personal experience with the Coyote software. Quite honestly, I have never had the urge to use it because of the patterns I've seen created with it. All that I've seen so far were not up to the standard I would consider investing in the software. That's NOT to say there aren't people out there creating good patterns, I just haven't seen them. I'm an advocate of Adobe Photoshop, whether it be the Elements or the full CS versions. Numerous peers use Paint Shop Pro with GREAT success too. Corel is also a leader in the designers' choice of software but has a very steep learning curve.

Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro have free downloads of their software for trial. They are far and above the leaders in the field of graphic software and work wonders for making patterns. If you download either, fire me an email and I'll send you a link to the tutorials I have on my website. Hopefully it'll haelp you out.

I use InfanView to create an initial black-and-white image. Then I open the image in Paintbox and draw it out pixel-by-pixel. It's a lot of work, but the final template is perfect.

Thank you- Andy!
Checked out your website ... tres Awesome!
We have Photo Shop both versions (my nearly 16 yr. son is still grinning - since he thought this was the way to go originally) have to check into Paint Shop Pro.
I am going to pursue this route - after Christmas panic settles.
Thank you again and we'll be in touch...

Merry Christmas!
K1 (Kim w/ 1 'm')
